After 7 played minutes FC Nutmeg got a freekick which was hit by Esa Alanko. If Vilppu Eskelinen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. Turo Kankaanperä's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Veijo Lamminen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Vilppu Eskelinen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Esa Kiprusoff struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Kaleva Kolsi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Nutmeg. Kaleva Kolsi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Esa Kiprusoff in the 24th minute. Esa Kiprusoff could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Kaleva Kolsi made a huge save. A collision led to Jaakoppi getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Joakim Kivi hit a great ball. Esa Kiprusoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vilppu Eskelinen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Kaleva Kolsi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaakoppi's Ahvo Vappula got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Esa Kiprusoff fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaleva Kolsi having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Kaleva Kolsi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vilppu Eskelinen went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Raine Nikander was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 62 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 61st minute of the game. One of Jaakoppi:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Nutmeg:s goal. If Ahvo Vappula had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vilppu Eskelinen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Kaleva Kolsi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Nutmeg were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Jaakoppi for a fine match.
