When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Pertti Salmela took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Rauli Liimatainen to make any attempt to save it. Rauli Liimatainen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kaleva Luhtio in the 30th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Koivunkylä IFK's zone, Mark Myllynen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nikolai Numminen came out of the goal and Mark Myllynen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 43rd minute, Kaleva Luhtio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Vapaniemi during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
