The referee showed Petri Litja the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Petri Litja hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Vilppu Ryynänen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Konsta Malmivaara made a huge save. Konsta Malmivaara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jani Henriksson in the 13th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as New York Red Bulls's Jani Henriksson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Konsta Malmivaara. That made the score 1-1 after 13 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in New York Red Bulls's zone, Sampo Ylönen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paavo Kaukomaa came out of the goal and Sampo Ylönen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 19 minutes into the match, Janne Myötänen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paavo Kaukomaa. New York Red Bulls's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Janne Myötänen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Vilppu Ryynänen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Konsta Malmivaara having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eerikki Saarinen got free with Konsta Malmivaara in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. During the 47th minute of the match Petri Litja completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Petri Litja a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Petri Litja kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sampo Ylönen was the one to do the kick off. Sampo Ylönen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Paavo Kaukomaa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kaleva Nyyssönen hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Vilppu Ryynänen struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Konsta Malmivaara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New York Red Bulls. In the 87th minute, Vilppu Ryynänen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New York Red Bulls fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. The supporters of Puralankylä IFK booed when New York Red Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jani Henriksson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sampo Ylönen's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 92ndth minute, Paavo Kaukomaa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Pertti Ronkainen fell near the penalty area in the 98th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Puralankylä IFK's protests and gave Pertti Ronkainen a yellow card for diving instead.
