The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Paavali Levokari's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tero Lumijärvi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Janne Jokila had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paavo Kaukomaa. Palvala IFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Janne Jokila was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 20 minutes into the match, Palvala IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Taito Väätäinen came free, but Paavo Kaukomaa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute of the match Tomi Ruhanen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paavo Kaukomaa skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aapeli Harikkala in the 33rd minute of play forced Mafors's goalkeeper Tero Lumijärvi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ossian Koski might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paavo Kaukomaa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paavali Levokari couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Janne Jokila to make the kick off. If Salomo Virolainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Janne Jokila was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 59th minute. Mafors's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 61 minutes into the match, Salomo Virolainen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paavo Kaukomaa. Palvala IFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Salomo Virolainen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Tero Lumijärvi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aapeli Harikkala in the 64th minute of the match. Tero Lumijärvi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aapeli Harikkala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Palvala IFK's zone, Taito Väätäinen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paavo Kaukomaa came out of the goal and Taito Väätäinen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 77th match minute, Mafors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antti Vihtilä to maneuver through the defense. Palvala IFK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Kai Saarelainen in the 80th minute. It was a well-played corner which Aapeli Harikkala managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Paavali Levokari blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tero Lumijärvi having to make a save. If Salomo Virolainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paavali Levokari fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tero Lumijärvi having to interfere. Salomo Virolainen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 97th play minutes Janne Jokila shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Paavo Kaukomaa and just under the crossbar into goal.
