The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pyry Kaltiainen got free with Keimo Kananen in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pyry Kaltiainen kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 7thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Kylmälä's keeper Keimo Kananen was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. An unexpected shot in the 15th minute by Pyry Kaltiainen got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Keimo Kananen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Markku Vanhatalo in the 21st minute of the match. If Päiviö Koponen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kaleva Petsamo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Päiviö Koponen went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 30th match minute, Parhalahti FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heikki Santahuhta to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute of the match Joel Paaso sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kaleva Petsamo skillfully saved the ball. Kaleva Petsamo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Päiviö Koponen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pyry Kaltiainen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Keimo Kananen made a huge save. Päiviö Koponen struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Kaleva Petsamo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
