The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aebeed El-Domani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. In the 18th minute of the match, Batran Kamal got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ameer Belal was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Mahdy Abaza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezzat Omar, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 28 minutes into the match, EL-AHLY2008's Batran Kamal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ameer Belal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aebeed El-Domani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Ameer Belal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Maher Omar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Sangaha's Ameer Belal got control of the ball when Batran Kamal tried to sneak it across the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Maher Omar heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Ameer Belal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aebeed El-Domani, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the game, Desouqy El-hadary was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sangaha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EL-AHLY2008 the free kick. After 47 played minutes Sangaha got a freekick which was hit by Desouqy El-hadary. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Fayez Karam made the kick off in the second half. Fayez Karam might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mahdy Abaza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fayez Karam ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 54th minute, Riad Abdel Hameed hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Aebeed El-Domani came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the EL-AHLY2008 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aebeed El-Domani couldn't finish the play. After having played for 59 minutes, Batran Kamal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EL-AHLY2008's supporters crossed their fingers, but Batran Kamal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aebeed El-Domani might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ameer Belal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aebeed El-Domani ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 63rd match minute, Sangaha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aemara Fouad to maneuver through the defense. Batran Kamal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Ameer Belal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aebeed El-Domani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ameer Belal having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sangaha's zone, Aebeed El-Domani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ameer Belal came out of the goal and Aebeed El-Domani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Sangaha's Fayez Karam in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye EL-AHLY2008's goalie prevented a goal. In the 75th minute, Anwar Bahaa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Fayez Karam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ezzat Omar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mahdy Abaza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reda Mahdy in the 86th minute of the match. Sangaha's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
