In the 5th minute Nea Salamis were awarded a corner. Pipo Inzaghi went to the cornerflag to take it. Antonis Nikopolidis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lynkeus Plevritis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lynkeus Plevritis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Antonis Nikopolidis made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pipo Inzaghi in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Krzysztof Adamski saved REAL MADRID FC from getting behind. 11 minutes into the match, Nea Salamis's goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lynkeus Plevritis. Anthony Corelli made in the 12th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Lynkeus Plevritis. In the 18th minute Pipo Inzaghi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Krzysztof Adamski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th match minute, REAL MADRID FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lynkeus Plevritis to maneuver through the defense. Krzysztof Adamski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruud Nistelrooy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. REAL MADRID FC's Krzysztof Adamski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pipo Inzaghi in the 26th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ruud Nistelrooy's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Krzysztof Adamski was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ruud Nistelrooy to strike the kick off in the second half. The throw-in from Epeios Letsos in the 53rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Nea Salamis's Cafu Milan. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruud Nistelrooy in the 54th minute of play forced REAL MADRID FC's goalkeeper Krzysztof Adamski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ruud Nistelrooy struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Krzysztof Adamski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nea Salamis. In the 61st minute of the match, Pipo Inzaghi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Krzysztof Adamski saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The Nea Salamis fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when Nea Salamis's Ruud Nistelrooy looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Anthony Corelli hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. But to his dismay, Ruud Nistelrooy quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 70th minute, Nea Salamis's Pipo Inzaghi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Krzysztof Adamski. Krzysztof Adamski yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anthony Corelli during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to REAL MADRID FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Anthony Corelli hit a great ball. 75 minutes into the match, Nea Salamis's Pipo Inzaghi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Krzysztof Adamski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 76thth minute of the game Pipo Inzaghi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but REAL MADRID FC's Krzysztof Adamski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pipo Inzaghi received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Krzysztof Adamski came out and tried to block the shot, but Pipo Inzaghi slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 78th minute. Alkibiades Kutras made in the 80th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Pipo Inzaghi immediately put the ball in play. REAL MADRID FC's Krzysztof Adamski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruud Nistelrooy in the 82nd minute of play. Ruud Nistelrooy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Krzysztof Adamski made a huge save. Krzysztof Adamski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pipo Inzaghi in the 97th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Nea Salamis had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
