When Valery Esipenko fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grodno's protests and gave Valery Esipenko a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Grodno getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Valery Esipenko hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Grodno's zone, Sidor Porshnev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mihas Degtiarev came out of the goal and Sidor Porshnev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mihas Degtiarev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liavon Labeiko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Liavon Labeiko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mihas Degtiarev having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Timur Eleseev to make the kick off. Yuriy Chaikovsky showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timur Eleseev, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juljan Pankavets in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yuriy Chaikovsky prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 55 minutes into the match, Gorki's goal looked a bit too open when Timur Eleseev came free, but Yuriy Chaikovsky reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yuriy Chaikovsky made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timur Eleseev in the 73rd minute of play. A collision led to Grodno getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Valery Esipenko hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timur Eleseev in the 95th minute of play forced Gorki's goalkeeper Yuriy Chaikovsky to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gorki's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
