Borislav Gruychev kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After 22 played minutes, Borussia Dortmund's Andrey Florev shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elin Gashev came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Borussia Dortmund reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Evstati Gitzov in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elin Gashev saved Slavia from getting behind. Stoimen Yonchovski hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. In the 26th match minute, Slavia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evstati Kyurkchiyski to maneuver through the defense. When Mihail Rendakov came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Slavia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mihail Rendakov couldn't finish the play. Avgustin Zhudev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodor Nastev having to interfere. Toncho Savev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elin Gashev having to interfere. In the 39th minute of the match Vladko Deshov sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elin Gashev skillfully saved the ball. In the 44th minute, Evstati Gitzov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elin Gashev was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Avgustin Zhudev to make the kick off. In the 66th minute, Slavia 's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Evstati Gitzov fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Toncho Savev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Toncho Savev got free with Elin Gashev in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute, Borussia Dortmund's Vladko Deshov seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Vladko Deshov the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Borussia Dortmund protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Vladko Deshov had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Borussia Dortmund fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 74th minute. Penalty! 80 minutes into the match, Slavia 's goal looked a bit too open when Toncho Savev came free, but Elin Gashev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. One of Borussia Dortmund:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Slavia :s goal. In the 97th minute there was a penalty for Slavia . Mladen Toninski stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Teodor Nastev. 2-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Toncho Savev got free with Elin Gashev in the 102nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Slavia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Borussia Dortmund were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
