Mexico were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Villawalter City's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Facundo Cadaval managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 21st minute, Gomesano Cayuela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Villawalter City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Gaona in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antonio Canal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 29 played minutes Villawalter City got a freekick which was hit by Coronel Revuelta. Antonio Canal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Villawalter City defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antonio Canal. The Villawalter City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antonio Canal should have stopped the shot. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mino Puig in the 38th minute of play. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Antonio Canal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. The Villawalter City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Gaona to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Villawalter City's zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antonio Canal came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antonio Canal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sebastián Olivarez hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Antonio Canal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute.
