Nikolaj Bitsadze showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Djojiki Chebaevskiy in the 7th minute of the match. Arsen Machaidze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Spalding's Beka Bitsadze got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Filipp Gvaramadze might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vaja Topnikov. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Filipp Gvaramadze ran back to his position shaking his head. Vladimir Lekov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filipp Gvaramadze got free with Vaja Topnikov in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With his leg Vaja Topnikov managed to avoid a goal in the 48thth minute, when Market Harborough's Vladimir Lekov fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The Market Harborough players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Spalding were winning 0-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Filipp Gvaramadze made a kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Vladimir Lekov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Market Harborough's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimir Lekov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vaja Topnikov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Lekov, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 60th minute, Spalding's Goderdzi Gabelia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nikolaj Bitsadze. Nikolaj Bitsadze yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Arsen Machaidze might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nikolaj Bitsadze. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arsen Machaidze ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Djojiki Chebaevskiy in the 70th minute of play forced Market Harborough's goalkeeper Nikolaj Bitsadze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filipp Gvaramadze in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vaja Topnikov saved Spalding from getting behind. When Vladimir Lekov came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Market Harborough fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vladimir Lekov couldn't finish the play. Nikolaj Bitsadze didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arsen Machaidze went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. 88 minutes into the match, Spalding's goal looked a bit too open when Bidzina Pachalia came free, but Vaja Topnikov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nikolaj Bitsadze acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 90th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Nikolaj Milakiev. In the 97th minute, Vladimir Lekov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vaja Topnikov was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Spalding walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
