In the 5th minute Musa Mähärrämov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mämmädbağır Talıblı saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Räşid Mämmädov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Räşad Abduyev blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mämmädbağır Talıblı having to make a save. Räşad Abduyev who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Mämmädbağır Talıblı when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Qurban Babaşov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadaş Adigözälov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Araz Zaxundov's late challenge caught a Gence's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Araz Zaxundov helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute, Araz Zaxundov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gence's Räşid Mämmädov got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Räşad Abduyev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Mämmädbağır Talıblı made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Räşad Abduyev got free with Mämmädbağır Talıblı in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Räşad Abduyev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mämmädbağır Talıblı having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Gence's Faiq Ağacanov got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Gence's Mämmädbağır Talıblı proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Gence from getting a goal against them. Gence's Mämmädbağır Talıblı played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Musa Mähärrämov in the 41st minute of play. Räşid Mämmädov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Qurban Babaşov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dadaş Adigözälov to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Räşad Abduyev sped through Gence's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mämmädbağır Talıblı. Ismät Känanov kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 58 minutes, Qurban Babaşov successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Räsulzadä's Musa Mähärrämov in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gence's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Räsulzadä booed when Gence was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Faiq Ağacanov didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the game, Qädir Şükürov was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gence's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Räsulzadä the free kick. In the 73rd minute, Qädir Şükürov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Räsulzadä's Bähruz Eminov couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 74th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Gence. Gence's Mämmädbağır Talıblı played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Musa Mähärrämov in the 75th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Musa Mähärrämov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Räsulzadä's supporters rose to their feet, but Musa Mähärrämov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mämmädbağır Talıblı breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Qüdrät Umarov's late challenge caught a Gence's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Qüdrät Umarov helped the player get up and apologised. Qüdrät Umarov kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dadaş Adigözälov in the 87th minute of play forced Räsulzadä's goalkeeper Qurban Babaşov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dadaş Adigözälov kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gence players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Räsulzadä.
