Väli Kamalov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Ilham Hämidov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Väli Kamalov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 10th minute, Färman Ağakişiyev got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 15 minutes, Tacir Färruxov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sumgait FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tacir Färruxov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ilham Hämidov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Väli Kamalov in the 16th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Qobustan's Mehralı Balacayev got a free kick in the 17th minute. Väli Kamalov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Vüqar Dünyamaliyev's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sabir Hätämov was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ähmäd Älişov during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 45th minute, one of Qobustan:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Qobustan. The referee gave Sumgait FC a penalty, 47 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Elvin Abdulxälilov, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Qobustan's Ilham Hämidov. 1-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Väli Kamalov to strike the kick off in the second half. Ilham Hämidov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Väli Kamalov, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 53rd minute, Väli Kamalov made a precise shot to the right of Ilham Hämidov. Qobustan's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. If Väli Kamalov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Väli Kamalov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ilham Hämidov having to make a save. Sumgait FC's Sabir Hätämov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vüqar Dünyamaliyev in the 76th minute of play. Tacir Färruxov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ähmäd Älişov in the 82nd minute of play forced Qobustan's goalkeeper Ilham Hämidov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ilham Hämidov didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 84th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. If Väli Kamalov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Tacir Färruxov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
