Qılman Abakarov stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Allahyar Behbudov's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Mingəçevir AŞ's Dämir Xudadverdiyev proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Mingəçevir AŞ from getting a goal against them. Oqtay Räfiyev hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Xälil Mälikov struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Qılman Abakarov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mingəçevir AŞ. After a defensive mix-up in Gəncə PFK's zone, Xälil Mälikov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Qılman Abakarov came out of the goal and Xälil Mälikov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Laçın Bähärçinov took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Qılman Abakarov. Qılman Abakarov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Xälil Mälikov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Qılman Abakarov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Laçın Bähärçinov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Laçın Bähärçinov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Qılman Abakarov. Gəncə PFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Laçın Bähärçinov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Xälil Mälikov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Qılman Abakarov made a huge save. After having played for 69 minutes, Xälil Mälikov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mingəçevir AŞ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xälil Mälikov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 75th match minute, Gəncə PFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cahan Abdulxaliqov to maneuver through the defense. If Kämaläddin Vermäliyev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Gəncə PFK's goalkeeper Qılman Abakarov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xälil Mälikov. Qılman Abakarov came out of the goal and Xälil Mälikov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Mälik Abduläzov fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gəncə PFK's protests and gave Mälik Abduläzov a yellow card for diving instead. After 94 played minutes Gəncə PFK got a freekick which was hit by Mälik Abduläzov. In the 97th minute, Laçın Bähärçinov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mingəçevir AŞ's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
