Tod Scargill made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Marlon Peacock sent off a good shot on target. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Codnor City's goalkeeper Tod Scargill, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ronny Glasby hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Codnor City's Tod Scargill proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Codnor City from getting a goal against them. After 21 minutes, Lennie Saunders mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Harlow United and the Codnor City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th match minute, Codnor City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rick Crossman to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 29 minutes, Vern Rowe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Harlow United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vern Rowe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38thth minute of the game Vern Rowe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Codnor City's Tod Scargill was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Codnor City's goalkeeper Tod Scargill, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Glyn Foreman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dennis Haylock stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Codnor City's Dennis Haylock got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Dennis Haylock came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Codnor City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Haylock couldn't finish the play. In the 73rdth minute of the game Dennis Haylock who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Harlow United's Seth Chambers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Harlow United's Lennie Saunders got a free kick in the 80th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Marlon Peacock managed to get in a good position for a shot. Harlow United's supporters rose to their feet, but Marlon Peacock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tod Scargill breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Codnor City's Dennis Haylock in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
