In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Golcar's goalkeeper Oscar Chappell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Golcar booed when Newlyn East FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graeme Dearden didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Newlyn East FC's Nick Nailor got control of the ball when Brad Boston tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 17th minute, Jasper Newell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Oscar Chappell was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Barry Golding had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Barry Golding hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Marty Tipton hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Newlyn East FC's Jasper Newell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oscar Chappell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Oscar Chappell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jasper Newell's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Seth Gray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nick Nailor having to interfere. In the 41st minute Todd Dumpleton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Chappell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 42 minutes into the game, Ruben Beasley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Golcar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newlyn East FC the free kick. Golcar's Oscar Chappell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasper Newell in the 45th minute of play. Oscar Chappell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Todd Dumpleton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Golcar players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Newlyn East FC were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Todd Dumpleton made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Jasper Newell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newlyn East FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jasper Newell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Chappell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute, Marty Tipton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Todd Dumpleton's late challenge caught a Golcar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Todd Dumpleton helped the player get up and apologised. Todd Dumpleton hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Seth Gray received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Nick Nailor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Newlyn East FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Glyn Jenkins hit a great ball. Seth Gray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nick Nailor having to interfere. Oscar Chappell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Todd Dumpleton, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. If Marty Tipton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Jasper Newell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Seth Gray sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Newlyn East FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
