Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Barry Golding in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Buster Hampshire prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 8th minute, Bobby Dobson made a precise shot to the right of Oscar Chappell. Golcar's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. A collision led to Rye AFC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Sonny Seagrave hit a great ball. Barry Golding received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Buster Hampshire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19thth minute of the game Darryl Fenwick who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Golcar's Oscar Chappell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bobby Dobson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oscar Chappell having to make a save. Darryl Fenwick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Chappell having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Darryl Fenwick got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 26 played minutes Golcar got a freekick which was hit by Barry Golding. Bobby Dobson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Oscar Chappell made a huge save. When Bobby Dobson came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Rye AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bobby Dobson couldn't finish the play. Marty Tipton hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. 48 minutes into the match, Golcar's goal looked a bit too open when Darryl Fenwick came free, but Oscar Chappell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Barry Golding made the kick off in the second half. Oscar Chappell didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Freddy Easton went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After having played for 63 minutes, Darryl Fenwick managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rye AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darryl Fenwick was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Buster Hampshire made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Golding in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th minute, Darryl Fenwick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 71 minutes into the match, Rye AFC's goalkeeper Buster Hampshire had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Seth Gray. Oscar Chappell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darryl Fenwick in the 77th minute of the match. Oscar Chappell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bobby Dobson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bobby Dobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rye AFC fully deserved thier win.
