Evgeniy Zaleev made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Vadim Merkurov's late challenge caught a Newmarket's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. In the 40th minute Arseniy Aivazovskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evgeniy Zaleev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 minutes, Ignat Obushenkov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oxford and the Newmarket players grew even worse after the yellow card. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Vsevolod Krivolapov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Oxford's goal looked a bit too open when Arseniy Aivazovskiy came free, but Evgeniy Zaleev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 61 played minutes Oxford got a freekick which was hit by Vadim Merkurov. In the game's 62nd minute Newmarket's Daniil Sleptsov took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Evgeniy Zaleev and thus the score was 0-3. Evgeniy Zaleev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nikita Kiryanov, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute.
