Eduard Bochkin's late challenge caught a Eton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eduard Bochkin helped the player get up and apologised. Eduard Bochkin hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Leonid Gulyanov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fedor Protchev, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. If Eduard Kudryavskiy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anatoliy Kuzovlev took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Leonid Gulyanov. Leonid Gulyanov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The supporters of Colchester booed when Eton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikolay Fedulev didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eton's Leonid Gulyanov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anatoliy Kuzovlev in the 52nd minute of play. Fedor Protchev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fedor Protchev who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Leonid Gulyanov when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 65 minutes into the match, Fedor Protchev had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leonid Gulyanov. Eton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fedor Protchev was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Colchester's Anatoliy Kuzovlev in the 72nd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Leonid Gulyanov was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Eton through an amazing save. After a rather tough play, Eton's Eduard Kudryavskiy got a free kick in the 77th minute. Valentin Polezhaev hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Anatoliy Kuzovlev received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Leonid Gulyanov came out and tried to block the shot, but Anatoliy Kuzovlev slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 81st minute. Fedor Protchev recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maksim Babenko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduard Kudryavskiy in the 94th minute of play. Stanislav Galitskiy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Colchester had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
