The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alistair Brown during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Walter Atkinson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Deon Blakeley struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Jonny Hicks didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Howden. Deon Blakeley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Jonny Hicks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th match minute, Maradona FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stefan Moyse to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute, Jeremy Potter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 1-0 became the score in the 21st minute when Deon Blakeley elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Syd Wicks's late challenge caught a Maradona FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Syd Wicks helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Maradona FC booed when Howden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Syd Wicks didn't get a good kick on the ball. Will Glasby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ron Tipton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonny Hicks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Byfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 36thth minute of the game Tommy Byfield who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maradona FC's Jonny Hicks was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Deon Blakeley got free with Jonny Hicks in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 41st minute Samuel Bennett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Will Glasby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tommy Byfield made a kick off. Howden were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Maradona FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Syd Wicks took the corner. Spike Boyce made a great header on Howden's corner, it was just that Maradona FC's Jonny Hicks managed to reach the ball for a save. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Howden had won after a very even match.
