Narain Dutt struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Suraj Denzongpa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Warje Villa. After some careless play in the Whitby City defense, Jaitrama Sen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Suraj Denzongpa. The Whitby City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Suraj Denzongpa should have stopped the shot. The referee gave Whitby City a penalty, 20 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ahobala Arneja, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Warje Villa's Dalijit Khatri. 1-1. Dalijit Khatri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dharam Mallik, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaitrama Sen was the one to do the kick off. Suraj Denzongpa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anandaghana Agarwal in the 65th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Whitby City's Anirudh Dhillon got a free kick in the 66th minute. If Jaitrama Sen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Jaitrama Sen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Warje Villa's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaitrama Sen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Suraj Denzongpa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Narain Dutt might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Suraj Denzongpa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Narain Dutt ran back to his position shaking his head. After 79 minutes, Anirudh Dhillon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Whitby City and the Warje Villa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Anandaghana Agarwal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
