In the 14thth minute of the game Khalis Rangkuti who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Balikpapan FC's Kiki Supriatna was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kiki Supriatna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Khalis Rangkuti, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Eet Munggaran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hendrik Darwis having to interfere. Lexi Mangkunagara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. M. Dedy Sutowo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kiki Supriatna having to interfere. Khalis Rangkuti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kiki Supriatna having to interfere. M. Dedy Sutowo took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kiki Supriatna. Kiki Supriatna dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 35 minutes into the match, Khalis Rangkuti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kiki Supriatna. Balikpapan FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Khalis Rangkuti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The supporters of Balikpapan FC booed when Kelapadua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulus Mulyana didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The audience thought a goal was coming when M. Dedy Sutowo got free with Kiki Supriatna in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lexi Mangkunagara couldn't finish the play. Hendrik Darwis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eet Munggaran in the 74th minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Kelapadua's goal looked a bit too open when Lexi Mangkunagara came free, but Hendrik Darwis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Balikpapan FC's Eros Papara got a free kick in the 77th minute. In the 81st minute of the match Hisar Sinambela shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kiki Supriatna showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. M. Dedy Sutowo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kiki Supriatna having to interfere. Lexi Mangkunagara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. M. Dedy Sutowo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Kiki Supriatna made a huge save. Kelapadua's Khalis Rangkuti got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
