The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Akri Parlindungan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Putra Batunontju's Diki Jatnika got control of the ball when Gungun Sumampouw tried to sneak it across the goal line. Akri Parlindungan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Mahadi Renata fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Putra Batunontju's protests and gave Mahadi Renata a yellow card for diving instead. Bernard Supardi was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in PSI Sungaimanau's zone, Sahala Wijaya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernard Supardi came out of the goal and Sahala Wijaya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 44th match minute, Putra Batunontju was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niki Da Costa to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th minute Otong Pangestu managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal.

Diki Jatnika didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gungun Sumampouw went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Bernard Supardi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sahala Wijaya in the 64th minute of the match. 73 minutes into the match, PSI Sungaimanau's goal looked a bit too open when Sahala Wijaya came free, but Bernard Supardi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Diki Jatnika showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Akri Parlindungan, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. If Akri Parlindungan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diki Jatnika took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Akri Parlindungan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sahala Wijaya received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Bernard Supardi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mahadi Renata blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernard Supardi having to make a save.
