The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Honestra Pelangi struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Dadan Suwandi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Honestra Pelangi, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sondang Noya during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 14 played minutes Piarau got a freekick which was hit by Sondang Noya. If Honestra Pelangi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Benyamin Batola during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dadan Suwandi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ruby Sumadipraja's late challenge caught a PSI Tjibuah's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ruby Sumadipraja helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 44 minutes, Hendratmo Lesmana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PSI Tjibuah's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hendratmo Lesmana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nyllaly Mulyadi to make the kick off. Cornelis Nasution kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Sondang Noya was shown his second yellow card after 57 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 58 played minutes Piarau got a freekick which was hit by Sondang Noya. Hendratmo Lesmana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Honestra Pelangi in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dadan Suwandi saved Piarau from getting behind. When Christopher Noya was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 79 minutes had been played. In the 79th match minute, PSI Tjibuah was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christopher Noya to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Rachman Sutha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piarau's supporters rose to their feet, but Rachman Sutha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Husin Febrian breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Hendratmo Lesmana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
