Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nguyễn Thuy kicked off to start the match. Huỳnh Bay's late challenge caught a Yen Bai's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Huỳnh Bay helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd minute, Huỳnh Bay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Tuan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Thuy in the 5th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Phan Nguyet during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 5 played minutes Phan Thiet got a freekick which was hit by Phan Nguyet. Phan Thiet's Nguyễn Nam got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 15 minutes, Nguyễn Tuyet managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yen Bai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Tuyet was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16th minute Nguyễn Thuy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trần Tuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nguyễn Viet hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Cuc was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 22nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Phan Thiet's Trần Tuan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tuyet in the 24th minute of play. Trần Tuan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Thuy in the 27th minute of play. Trần Tuan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Thuy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Yen Bai's Nguyễn Tuyet in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Phan Thiet's goalie prevented a goal. 44 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Nam cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Nguyễn Hoa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Huỳnh Bay stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Nguyễn Thuy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nguyễn Thuy was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 55th minute. Yen Bai's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Trần Tuan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Thuy in the 57th minute of the match. Nguyễn Nam might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Hoa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nguyễn Nam ran back to his position shaking his head. Huỳnh Bay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Hoa having to interfere. The supporters of Phan Thiet booed when Yen Bai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Huynh Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 72nd minute, Huỳnh Bay made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Hoa. Yen Bai's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 77th minute, Nguyễn Tuyet left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yen Bai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When Nguyễn Thuy fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yen Bai's protests and gave Nguyễn Thuy a yellow card for diving instead. In the 81st match minute, Yen Bai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Thuy to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Tuan kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Nguyễn Nam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Nguyễn Hoa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Yen Bai's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Nam came free, but Nguyễn Hoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Yen Bai players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Phan Thiet.
