Đồng Nai's Lê Duc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Đồng Nai from getting a goal against them. Nguyễn Tinh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Thuyet in the 5th minute of play. After 7 minutes, Nguyễn Tuan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Đồng Nai and the Hai Phong players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nguyễn Tuan hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Khoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Hai Phong's Bùi Ritchell in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Đồng Nai's goalie prevented a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The wind increased when Bùi Ritchell made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Nguyễn Khoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lê Duc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bùi Ritchell in the 58th minute of the match. When Nguyễn Bay came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Đồng Nai fans jumped to their feet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 71st minute of play forced Đồng Nai's goalkeeper Lê Duc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Tinh came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Đồng Nai's Lê Thuyet. But to his dismay, Lê Thuyet quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. 81 minutes into the match, Lê Thuyet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Tinh. Hai Phong's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lê Thuyet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. The supporters of Đồng Nai booed when Hai Phong was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Bien didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hai Phong's Nguyễn Tinh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Hai Phong from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Đồng Nai had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
