Trần Dong was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Lý Anh Hung. Lê Than could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Trần Dong made a huge save. After 36 played minutes Lê Than rounded Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC's Trần Dong proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC from getting a goal against them. Nguyễn Tho struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. La Tuan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Ha Tay's Nguyễn Hieu Ngan in the 46th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Trần Dong was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC through an amazing save.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Hieu Ngan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nguyễn Hieu Ngan hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute, Nguyễn Tho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lý Anh Hung kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Nguyễn Tho kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. A collision led to Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Nguyễn Tho hit a great ball. Trần Dong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lê Than in the 78th minute of play. Lê Than sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nguyễn Hieu Ngan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Hoàng Tong hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC's Nguyễn Tho got a free kick in the 87th minute. After 92 played minutes Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh FC got a freekick which was hit by Hoàng Tong. If Nguyễn Lan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
