Thua Thien-Hue's Bùi Than got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lê Tan kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the match, Bùi Than notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Phu Tho's Nguyễn Than. Nguyễn Than was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thua Thien-Hue's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phu Tho the free kick. In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Phu Tho. Phạm Loc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lương Duong in the 75th minute of play. Nguyễn Than showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Chi in the 83rd minute of the match. Nguyễn Than showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bùi Than, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Lê Tuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phạm Loc having to interfere.
