In the 33rd of the match, Phạm Nam tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh got in the way and made a wonderful save. Lê Tấn Dũng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Quang Nam's Lê Xuan got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Lê Tấn Dũng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Tu having to interfere. Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phạm Nam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Van Quyen's late challenge caught a Quang Nam's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Van Quyen helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Quang Nam booed when Quang Ngai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Van Quyen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nguyễn Thien charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Thien the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Quang Nam getting a freekick after 66 minutes play.
