Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Trần Huỳnh got the match started through his kick off. Lê Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Hoang having to interfere. Lê Dinh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đỗ Than, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Trần Huỳnh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trần Huỳnh's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lê Hoang read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Đỗ Than fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Dinh having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Thai Binh's Nguyễn Chuong got a free kick in the 19th minute. The Thai Binh fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Thai Binh's Lê Minh looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Lê Minh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thai Binh's Lê Dinh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đỗ Than in the 43rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Thai Binh defense, Đỗ Than kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lê Dinh. The Thai Binh fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lê Dinh should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Trần Huỳnh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thai Binh's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Huỳnh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Hoang breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
After 53 played minutes Thai Binh got a freekick which was hit by Hoàng Nam. 54 minutes into the match, Ha Long's Hoàng Tran broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Đỗ Than could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Lê Dinh made a huge save. If Đỗ Than had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lê Dinh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Lam, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Đỗ Than got free with Lê Dinh in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 76th minute, Phan Minh-ha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Hoàng Tran from long distance, 77 minutes into the match, got Lê Dinh's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Nguyễn Phuc hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Đỗ Than in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lê Dinh, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Bùi Hoa kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Đỗ Than's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lê Dinh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Thai Binh fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 90th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 91 minutes, Ha Long's Hoàng Tran got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Lê Dinh. After 94 played minutes Thai Binh got a freekick which was hit by Bùi Hoa. With a little luck, Thai Binh's Lê Dinh got control of the ball when Đỗ Than tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Nguyễn Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ha Long eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
