But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dương Minh couldn't finish the play. Việt Nam's Nguyễn Hung got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Hà Nội getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Phạm Hoang hit a great ball. In the 35th minute of the match Phạm Hoang sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trần Xuan skillfully saved the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Việt Nam fans cheered their team off the field, for while Hà Nội had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
