Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Vương Hoai started the match with the kick off. Lê Lam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Phuc in the 5th minute of play. Phạm Tan hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After 12 played minutes Viet Nam got a freekick which was hit by Trần Nga. A collision led to Viet Nam getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Trần Nga hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the match, Viet Nam's goal looked a bit too open when La Hanh came free, but Lê Lam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Tra Vinh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Đặng Duc. If La Hanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tra Vinh's Nguyễn Phuc in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Viet Nam's goalie prevented a goal. Lê Lam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from La Hanh, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. La Hanh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Lê Lam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Tra Vinh getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Trần Hoang hit a great ball. When Trần Nga came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Viet Nam fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trần Nga couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Viet Nam booed when Tra Vinh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ngô Tuyet didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Tra Vinh's Ngô Tuyet got a free kick in the 35th minute. A collision led to Tra Vinh getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Trần Hoang hit a great ball. Nguyễn Thuy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vương Hoai in the 38th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that La Hanh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lê Lam was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. After 42 played minutes Viet Nam got a freekick which was hit by Lê Van Tai Em. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Phuc to make the kick off. Đặng Duc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Tra Vinh booed when Viet Nam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Thanh didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tra Vinh's Nguyễn Thuy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đặng Duc in the 64th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Trần Hoang kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lê Lam. That made the score 1-1 in the 66 minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, Tra Vinh's goal looked a bit too open when Vương Hoai came free, but Nguyễn Thuy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tra Vinh's Nguyễn Phuc got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, La Hanh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tra Vinh's supporters rose to their feet, but La Hanh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Lam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Trần Nga kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Lê Lam stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Phuc's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Đặng Duc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Thuy having to interfere. Vương Hoai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Tra Vinh's zone, Đặng Duc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Thuy came out of the goal and Đặng Duc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Trịnh Dung fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Viet Nam's protests and gave Trịnh Dung a yellow card for diving instead. In the 89th minute, one of Viet Nam:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Viet Nam. A collision led to Tra Vinh getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Vũ Duc hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Tra Vinh's zone, Vũ Diem stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Thuy came out of the goal and Vũ Diem tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
