Phu Yen's Phạm Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Thanh Bình in the 4th minute of play. Nguyễn Thanh Bình received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Phạm Thanh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trần Tuyet's late challenge caught a Phu Yen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 39th minute, Võ Nghiêm-Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The wind increased when Hoàng Tuan made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Phan Thien in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Nguyet saved Ha Tinh from getting behind. Nguyễn Nguyet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hoàng Tuan in the 67th minute of play. Hoàng Tuan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Nguyet read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ha Tinh's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Trần Thai was slow to take the kick. During this time Phu Yen's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Trần Thai almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ha Tinh's Nguyễn Nguyet did a great save. In the 74th minute, Hoàng Tuan made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Nguyet. Ha Tinh's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0.
