The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Minh-ha got free with Nguyễn Nguyet in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Van Tai Em in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Nguyet saved Ha Tinh from getting behind. Võ Nghiêm-Minh might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over La Thanh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Võ Nghiêm-Minh ran back to his position shaking his head. Nguyễn Van Tai Em received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Nguyễn Nguyet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Van Tai Em in the 18thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nguyễn Nguyet, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ha Tinh's Nguyễn Nguyet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Van Tai Em in the 20th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Trần Minh-ha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cai Be's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Minh-ha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Nguyet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Nguyễn Van Tai Em had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Thanh Bình to strike the kick off in the second half. Võ Nghiêm-Minh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
