Dương Tuan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hoàng Tho stood somewhat misplaced when Nguyễn Dung came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 29 minute. Hoàng Tho made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Phạm Chuong sent off a good shot on target. Nguyễn Dung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hoàng Tho having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Huế's goal looked a bit too open when Phan Phong came free, but Dương Tuan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Dung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Hoàng Tho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the game, Huế's Phạm Chuong nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hoàng Tho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied.
