Nguyễn Khoi charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Khoi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 7 played minutes Huế got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Khoi. When Vũ Thanh fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Huế's protests and gave Vũ Thanh a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Huế:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Dong Ha:s goal. Nguyễn Bay shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Nguyễn Dung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Huế booed when Dong Ha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phạm Phuoc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Phạm Lien showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Chuong in the 21st minute of the match. Nguyễn Dung recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dong Ha's Phạm Lien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Dung in the 27th minute of play. Phạm Lien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Dung, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dương Bay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Dương Tuan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Nga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dương Tuan having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dương Bay got free with Dương Tuan in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nguyễn Nga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phạm Chuong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Phạm Lien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Trần Dinh hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Dung stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Phạm Chuong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 54 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Dung recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Phạm Lien. Nguyễn Dung showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Phạm Chuong was extremely unlucky when he, in the 60th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a defensive mix-up in Dong Ha's zone, Phạm Chuong stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phạm Lien came out of the goal and Phạm Chuong tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Trần Than charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Trần Than the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Dong Ha booed when Huế was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Than didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute Nguyễn Nga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dương Tuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Nguyễn Dung fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 83 minutes into the match, Phạm Chuong notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Dong Ha's Phạm Lien. Phạm Lien was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Nguyễn Dung had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dương Bay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the game, Dong Ha's Dương Bay nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dương Tuan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Huế walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
