A collision led to Da Lat getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Nguyễn Van Tai Em hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hoàng Minh in the 6th minute of play forced Manchester city's goalkeeper Trần Hong Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes had been played when some careless play by Manchester city's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Phan Cong Vinh was slow to take the kick. During this time Da Lat's players had a chance to rest. Da Lat's Phan Cong Vinh was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Trần Hong Minh in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Lê Huỳnh's late challenge caught a Da Lat's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Huỳnh helped the player get up and apologised. In the 12th minute, Lê Huỳnh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Hong Minh came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Da Lat's Trần Thi. But to his dismay, Trần Thi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Trần Hong Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Thi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bùi Lam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Lê Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd match minute, Da Lat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Hieu to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute, Hoàng Thuyet ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lê Hung was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 30 minutes, Nguyễn Nguyet mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester city and the Da Lat players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Manchester city's Nguyễn Nguyet got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute Bùi Lam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Hung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Hoàng Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trần Thi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Hong Minh having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Da Lat's goal looked a bit too open when Bùi Lam came free, but Lê Hung reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trần Thi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bùi Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Hung having to interfere. In the 54th minute Trần Thi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trần Hong Minh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Da Lat's goalkeeper Lê Hung, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Manchester city's Nguyễn Nguyet got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Da Lat fans' excitement grew in the 67th match minute when Da Lat's Hoàng Minh looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Da Lat's Hoàng Minh got a free kick in the 69th minute. Da Lat's Lê Hung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hoàng Thuyet in the 75th minute of play. In the 79th minute Bùi Lam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Hung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trần Thi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Manchester city's Trần Hong Minh got control of the ball when Hoàng Minh tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nguyễn Hieu Ngan hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Da Lat had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
