After a rather tough play, Hải Phòng FC's Lê Hoang got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 9th minute of the match Nguyễn Hieu Ngan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nguyễn Thuy skillfully saved the ball. Phan Tuan struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Nguyễn Phong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hải Phòng FC. In the 13th minute, Trần Thi Ngoc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nguyễn Thuy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Văn Hong Minh in the 20th minute of the match. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Thi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 29th minute Phan Tuan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Phong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Hải Phòng FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Trần Thi Ngoc hit a great ball. Phạm Thi was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 34th minute. Hải Phòng FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 38th minute, Trần Loc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nguyễn Thi hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Phan Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Nguyễn Phong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Trần Loc was the one to do the kick off. Phan Tuan took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Phong. Nguyễn Phong dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Phạm Thi struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Nguyễn Phong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hải Phòng FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Trần Thi Ngoc during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nguyễn Phong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Loc in the 87th minute of the match. When Phạm Thi came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Hải Phòng FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phạm Thi couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute, My Tho's Nguyễn Ritchell dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. My Tho's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
