The supporters of Viet Tri booed when Ben Tre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ngô Tong didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Phan Quang Thanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Đặng Duy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Ngô Nhật Minh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Phan Quang Thanh came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Viet Tri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phan Quang Thanh couldn't finish the play. Ngô Nhật Minh didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Đặng Duy went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Nguyễn Viet charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Viet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 34th minute, Nguyễn Viet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Võ Phu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Phan Phuc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Võ Phu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Phan Phuc was a little too slow when Đinh Minh got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 45th minute. The score was now 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Đinh Minh was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Trịnh Tuan Hoang during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Đặng Duy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 60 minutes, Nguyễn Thien mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ben Tre and the Viet Tri players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ngô Nhật Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Duy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 62 minutes, Đinh Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ben Tre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Đinh Minh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Đinh Minh put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Phan Phuc. 67 minutes into the match, Viet Tri's goal looked a bit too open when Đinh Minh came free, but Phan Phuc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70thth minute of the game Đặng Duy who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ben Tre's Ngô Nhật Minh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Phan Quang Thanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 82 minutes of play Ben Tre's Nguyễn Thien was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Nguyễn Thien kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Phan Quang Thanh kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ngô Nhật Minh. That made the score 2-3 in the 84 minute of play. Võ Phu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Phuc having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Ben Tre's goal looked a bit too open when Lê Phuoc came free, but Ngô Nhật Minh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
