Trần Minh-ha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Trần Hieu Ngan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Mai fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Hieu Ngan having to interfere. Trần Hieu Ngan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trần Minh-ha in the 13th minute of the match. Trần Hieu Ngan came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Mong Cai's Trần Minh-ha. But to his dismay, Trần Minh-ha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Phạm Quang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chung Nhật Minh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Duy in the 22nd minute of the match. Trần Hieu Ngan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Minh-ha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chung Nhật Minh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Phạm Quang in the 27th minute. In the 31st minute, Trần Minh-ha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Gia Nghia getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Huỳnh Liem hit a great ball. Trần Hieu Ngan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Mai in the 35th minute of the match. Mong Cai's Chung Nhật Minh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Mong Cai from getting a goal against them. If Trần Hoang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the match, Mong Cai's goal looked a bit too open when Đoàn Nam came free, but Chung Nhật Minh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Minh-ha in the 42nd minute of play forced Gia Nghia's goalkeeper Trần Hieu Ngan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Mai received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Trần Hieu Ngan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đoàn Nam might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chung Nhật Minh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Đoàn Nam ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Trần Hoang to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Gia Nghia got a freekick which was hit by Đoàn Nam. When the match clock showed 55 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Phạm Quang sped through Mong Cai's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Chung Nhật Minh. Phạm Quang recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Mong Cai's Nguyễn Thuyet got a free kick in the 60th minute. Trần Hieu Ngan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Mai in the 62nd minute. Trần Hoang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gia Nghia's Trần Hieu Ngan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Minh-ha in the 75th minute of play. In the 76th minute of the match Phan Pham sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trần Hieu Ngan skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 79 minutes, Trần Minh-ha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mong Cai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trần Minh-ha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Trần Hoang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Hoang in the 88th minute of play forced Mong Cai's goalkeeper Chung Nhật Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
