Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Phùng Viet charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phùng Viet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Hue booed when Dong Nai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phùng Viet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nguyễn Phuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Tho in the 11th minute of the match. When Nguyễn Hieu Ngan fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dong Nai's protests and gave Nguyễn Hieu Ngan a yellow card for diving instead. Nguyễn Hieu Ngan kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, La Dong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Trần Thi Ngoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Vũ Cadeo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Phuc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hồ Hong Minh hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Hung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lâm Binh having to interfere. Lâm Binh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trần Thi Ngoc in the 37th minute. When Nguyễn Hung came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Hue fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Hung couldn't finish the play. In the 42nd minute of the match Đỗ Minh Phượng shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nguyễn Phuc showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nguyễn Phuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vũ Cadeo in the 45th minute of the match.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Hung made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Vũ Cadeo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dong Nai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Trần Thi Ngoc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Lâm Binh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Hung took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lâm Binh. Lâm Binh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. When Mai Thi Ngoc fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dong Nai's protests and gave Mai Thi Ngoc a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Nguyễn Hung managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hue's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Hung was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lâm Binh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Hung received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Lâm Binh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nguyễn Nga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Nguyễn Hung made a precise shot to the right of Lâm Binh. Dong Nai's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. After a rather tough play, Dong Nai's Phùng Viet got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 91st match minute, Dong Nai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Huy to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Hung in the 92nd minute of play forced Dong Nai's goalkeeper Lâm Binh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Phuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Tho in the 95th minute of the match. Dong Nai's Lâm Binh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Hung in the 96th minute of play. The Hue supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Dong Nai's performance. The match ended with a win for Dong Nai.
