Nguyễn Chuong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Đặng Loc in the 6th minute of the match. If Đặng Loc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 12 minutes, Phan Viet mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vung Tau and the DOEC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Vung Tau getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Phan Viet hit a great ball. The supporters of DOEC booed when Vung Tau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Quang Thanh didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Đặng Loc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 35th minute, Phạm Chi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nguyễn Chuong was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Nguyễn Cuc hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Phan Dinh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Bien having to interfere. Vung Tau's Trần Bien proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Vung Tau from getting a goal against them.

The wind increased when Phạm Chi made the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 53 minutes, Nguyễn Chuong successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Đinh Duong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Quang Thanh hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match.
