Vương Xuan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Loc in the 7th minute of play forced Thua Thien-Hue's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuyet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Đặng Hung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 60 minutes, Đặng Hung managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nguyễn Thuyet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Đặng Hung's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Anh Hung was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. The referee ignored Thua Thien-Hue's protests and gave Nguyễn Duy a yellow card for diving instead. After 90 played minutes Thua Thien-Hue got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Duy. Thua Thien-Hue's Nguyễn Thuyet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Loc in the 92nd minute of play. With a little luck, Thua Thien-Hue's Nguyễn Thuyet got control of the ball when Bùi Viet tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nguyễn Thuyet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Loc in the 97th minute of play. Thua Thien-Hue's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
