Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 5 played minutes CATS got a freekick which was hit by Lý Nga. Nguyễn Thi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Khoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. CATS were furious when Đào Cadeo was red carded, 11 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 12 played minutes CATS got a freekick which was hit by Đào Cadeo. Nguyễn Thi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Liễu Minh Phượng, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. La Nghiêm-Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đào Ho having to interfere. CATS's Nguyễn Thi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Khoi in the 18th minute of play. The supporters of Son La booed when CATS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. La Nghiêm-Minh didn't get a good kick on the ball. If La Nghiêm-Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. La Nghiêm-Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Đào Ho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Thi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trần Phuong in the 40th minute. Nguyễn Thi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Phuong in the 41st minute of play. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for La Nghiêm-Minh to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, CATS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lý Nga to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, Trần Tran had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Thi. CATS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Trần Tran was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Trần Tran took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Thi. Nguyễn Thi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 59th minute Trần Tran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Thi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Trần Phuong had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Thi. CATS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Trần Phuong was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Trần Tấn Dũng took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Thi. Nguyễn Thi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Nguyễn Thi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Tấn Dũng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the match, CATS's goal looked a bit too open when Trần Tấn Dũng came free, but Nguyễn Thi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Son La's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
