Hồ Chuong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Võ Chung having to interfere. In the 11th match minute, Hanoi A.F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Nhật Minh to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th match minute, Yen Bai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hồ Hieu Ngan to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Hồ Chuong sped through Hanoi A.F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Võ Chung. Hanoi A.F.C.'s Võ Chung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hồ Chuong in the 30th minute of play. Yen Bai's Hồ Chuong got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Võ Chung took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phan Tan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Phan Tan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Võ Chung showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hồ Chuong in the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Hồ Hieu Ngan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ngô Tinh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Võ Chung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

In the 54th minute, Huỳnh Cuc sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Hanoi A.F.C.'s Võ Chung didn't even have to move. Nguyễn Thanh Bình charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Thanh Bình the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nguyễn Thanh Bình hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Hồ Chuong took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Võ Chung. Võ Chung dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Hồ Chuong struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Phạm Chi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Võ Chung having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Hồ Chuong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yen Bai's supporters rose to their feet, but Hồ Chuong was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Võ Chung breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Yen Bai booed when Hanoi A.F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Thanh Bình didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hồ Chuong got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 0-3 in the right cross in the 91st match minute before Võ Chung had time to react. In the 94th match minute, Yen Bai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phan Tan to maneuver through the defense. When Trần Phu came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Hanoi A.F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trần Phu couldn't finish the play. Yen Bai's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
