The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Duong helped the player get up and apologised. Nguyễn Duong hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 12 minutes into the match, Buon Ma Thuot's goalkeeper Hoàng Bien had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Phạm Quang. Nguyễn Nam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Phan Cuc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phạm Nhật Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phan Cuc having to interfere. In the 20th minute Nguyễn Nam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Cuc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phạm Quang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Hoàng Bien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Can Tho's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Duong came free, but Phan Cuc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute Nguyễn Mai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hoàng Bien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phạm Quang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Can Tho booed when Buon Ma Thuot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Duong didn't get a good kick on the ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Buon Ma Thuot were furious when Trần Tuan was red carded, 47 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Buon Ma Thuot! Hoàng Bien had in the 50thth minute some difficulties stopping Lê Ho's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Nam to make the kick off. Nguyễn Mai's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hoàng Bien read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. After 56 minutes of play, Can Tho's Nguyễn Mai made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hoàng Bien was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 65thth minute of the game Phạm Quang who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Buon Ma Thuot's Hoàng Bien was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hoàng Bien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phạm Quang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Can Tho's Phạm Quang in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Buon Ma Thuot's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phạm Quang in the 80th minute of play forced Buon Ma Thuot's goalkeeper Hoàng Bien to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Duong kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 85th minute Nguyễn Mai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hoàng Bien saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th match minute, Buon Ma Thuot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bùi Hoai to maneuver through the defense. Can Tho's Phạm Quang got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Buon Ma Thuot's zone, Phạm Quang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hoàng Bien came out of the goal and Phạm Quang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
