Nha Trang's Hoàng Thanh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Nha Trang from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Ha Giang's zone, Huỳnh Tấn Dũng stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lê Dung came out of the goal and Huỳnh Tấn Dũng tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hoàng Thanh made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Hoàng Viet sent off a good shot on target. Hoàng Thanh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Hung, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ha Giang's Tôn Duc got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Hoàng Viet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Huỳnh Ho during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 28 played minutes Ha Giang got a freekick which was hit by Huỳnh Ho. In the 29th minute of the match Nguyễn Tuan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lê Dung showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Ha Giang's Triệu Duong got a free kick in the 33rd minute. The audience was convinced that Huỳnh Tấn Dũng's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lê Dung was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nha Trang's goalkeeper Hoàng Thanh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hoàng Viet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nha Trang's Hoàng Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Hung in the 71st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Nha Trang's Trần Hung got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 73rd minute, Trần Hung got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Trần Hung blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hoàng Thanh having to make a save. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
