The supporters of LANGTOFC booed when Vietnam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Nguyet didn't get a good kick on the ball. 4 minutes into the match, Lê Nhật Minh had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Trần Hong. Vietnam's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lê Nhật Minh was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Bùi Hieu Ngan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lê Tan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Hoàng Loc took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Trần Hong to make any attempt to save it. Nguyễn Tan lost his temper 18 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 17th minute, one of Vietnam:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vietnam. In the 19th minute, the referee gave LANGTOFC a penalty. Trần Binh looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Trần Hong. Trần Hong made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lê Nhật Minh in the 23rd minute. Lê Nhật Minh had several of the Vietnam's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 23 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 4-0 score and a disappointed Trần Hong as he didn't even see the shot coming. The crowd rose to their feet as Liễu Lam kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trần Hong. That made the score 5-0 in the 28 minute of play. Vietnam's Trần Hong proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Vietnam from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Vietnam's Nguyễn Lan got a free kick in the 32nd minute. 34 minutes into the match, Vietnam's goal looked a bit too open when Hoàng Loc came free, but Trần Hong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Vietnam defense, Huỳnh Hoang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trần Hong. The Vietnam fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trần Hong should have stopped the shot. Trần Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liễu Lam in the 40th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Hoàng Loc's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Trần Hong was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Hoàng Loc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hoàng Loc to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes, Nguyễn Lan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vietnam and the LANGTOFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bùi Hieu Ngan was out of position in the 64 minute of play, and Nguyễn Tuan Hoang capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Trần Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Lan in the 88th minute of the match. Nguyễn Tuan Hoang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bùi Hieu Ngan having to interfere.
