Lê Binh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mai Nam in the 40th minute of play. If Nguyễn Huy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 minutes, Mai Nam mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vinh Phuc and the Bien Hoa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th minute, Mai Nam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
