The Vinh Yen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Đào Tuyet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bùi Thanh having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Huỳnh Nam in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bùi Thanh saved Manchesterunited from getting behind. Bùi Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huỳnh Nam in the 23rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Đào Tuyet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vinh Yen's supporters rose to their feet, but Đào Tuyet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bùi Thanh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Huỳnh Nam kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Hoàng Tan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Phan Tu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. Nguyễn Huynh Duc stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hoàng Tan's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 45th match minute, Vinh Yen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Phong to maneuver through the defense. 48 minutes into the game, Huỳnh Nam cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Bùi Thanh was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hoàng Tan to make the kick off. A collision led to Manchesterunited getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Lý Mai hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huỳnh Nam in the 86th minute of play forced Manchesterunited's goalkeeper Bùi Thanh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 87 minutes into the match, Manchesterunited's Phan Tu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Huynh Duc narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 91st match minute, Vinh Yen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Thien to maneuver through the defense. When Hoàng Tan came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Manchesterunited fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hoàng Tan couldn't finish the play. Although Manchesterunited had been in control for most of the match, Vinh Yen still came away with the win.
